Love Your Neighbor

"Who is my neighbor?" one might ask
When commanded to love him.
Yes, he's the one who dwells next door
But that perception's rather dim.

God's big picture must be perceived
When undertaking this command.
Yes, it does involve those close by
But includes those in distant lands.

Because he is the guy in Guatemala
Or she's the woman in Sudan.
In our God's eyes a neighbor is
Anyone descibed as man.

But, again, the question may be raised,
"Love someone I've never met?"
Spiritually speaking, the answer is
We're all one...or did we forget

That God did create the African
The same way He formed the French
And the guy way up in Greenland
Sits next to us on Heaven's bench?

We are members of the human race
But not one species is above
Or below the expectation
Of the capacity to love.

One simply cannot love his Lord
And hate his neighbor in one breath.
Hypocrisy results in sin
And sin results in death.

"Love your neighbor as yourself,"
So you even must love you!
And as you ponder on these things,
Remember, Jesus loves you, too!

 Lovingly.

"And he answering said, Thou shalt love
the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength,
and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself."
Luke 10:27

"A new commandment I give unto
you, that you love one another;
as I have loved you, that ye also
love one another."
John 13:34
