Poetry For Everyday People
Morning Miracle
I've known mornings
that hugged me,
mornings,
that stabbed me,
mornings,
that reminded me,
in a most profound way,
I've known mornings,
that changed my life,
mornings,
I begged all night to see,
mornings,
that drenched me,
overwhelmingly with life's kiss,
I've known mornings,
of butterfly days,
mornings,
that opened like flowers,
mornings,
like cotton,
as I adjusted my head
on cotton
and dreamed some more,
I've known mornings,
of sweet Christmas
and all the trimmings,
how lucky.
that hugged me,
mornings,
that stabbed me,
mornings,
that reminded me,
in a most profound way,
I've known mornings,
that changed my life,
mornings,
I begged all night to see,
mornings,
that drenched me,
overwhelmingly with life's kiss,
I've known mornings,
of butterfly days,
mornings,
that opened like flowers,
mornings,
like cotton,
as I adjusted my head
on cotton
and dreamed some more,
I've known mornings,
of sweet Christmas
and all the trimmings,
how lucky.
