'My Prayer'

I ask in prayer as I end this day
That time be on his side,
Let it mend a heart that's torn apart
In shades of blue and gray.

For prayers are all we have sometimes
When everything seems lost,
They can fill the void and lead us down
A road that we've forgotten.

And prayers need not be full of words
Or lengthy in-depth sentences,
For the Old Ones hear what is spoken
Even though your voice is silent.

So hear my prayer I ask of you
To help my friend, and see him through,
Please hold him in your tender care,
And let him know that you're still there.

~ The untimely passing of a young friend's only
sister not only shattered his world, it also
questioned his already fragile faith in humanity,
and all that he held sacred. It broke my heart
to see him this way. It also inspired this poem. ~
