'Torn and Tattered'

The wind, it blows so cold, and fast
To destroy all in its path,
And blow away the rot, and stench
That gathers deep, within life's trench.

The rain, it falls in buckets deep
To drench all that's within its reach,
And drown all that cannot swim strong
Their voices hushed, in haunting song.

The branches snap, and fall away
Their cries are heard from far away,
Yet no one cares, or stops to listen
But they can't, they're cut to ribbons.

And I am here beneath it all
As I try my best to survive the fall,
While trees crash down on broken matter
I lie beneath, all torn and tattered.

~ When a long-time relationship comes apart
it's not only the union that gets ripped apart,it's
the two involved, and the road to recovery can take
as long to heal as the relationship was long. ~
