'For Eternity'I sit as pain consumes my heart While pondering mistakes I made, But it's like talking to a post For in the end I lose the most-- And that I cannot take. I speak to you my dear sweet child Though from another place, and time, Your smile so pure, your eyes so bright They clearly light the darkest night-- But now the night grows dark. We wait in space that turns us cold In prior times now passing, Though briefly comes, still spinning true The need to find my place with you-- And hold it for eternity. You mean the world, you are my life For which I'd gladly give this night, If it would keep you safe from harm Or cuddle you and keep you warm-- For life means nothing if you are gone. My child, my life so long before Now leaves and slams the coal black door, And travels down a tunnel long Where there's no end just bitter song-- While my voice keeps calling. Rusty Blackwood.
