Everyday is different yet everyday is the same
You follow twelve steps and yet twelve steps remain
Each day you climb higher, each day you gain ground
These twelve steps are sure, these twelve steps are sound
But you can't start at step two and go all the way to the end
And you can't skip step nine and go straight to step ten
It's like a baby learning for the very first time
Get your footing on the flat surface before you hit the incline
Because you can't walk up hill until you learn to walk straight
Everything will come in time, be patient and just wait
Take it step by step, growing day by day
Gaining strength as you walk, learning all the way
If you make it past step one, then you can make it past step two
And with the confidence you gain it gets easier to do
Just never get complacent, you have to stay on the move
You owe it to yourself, and you have something to prove
You are not a lost cause, you are not a waste of skin
You are a forgiven human being with Gods spirit within
Returning the sheep to the shepherd are what these step are for
So yesterday you took twelve steps, and today you take twelve more
You will take these steps for the rest of your life but you are not alone
For there is always someone following in your steps trying to get home
