Deep within my very self
Is a candle that will always burn-
One light on earth I hold very dear
And to equal it I only yearn-
To be half the man my father was
Though I know I never in life will be-
He was one who always come what may
Treasured his values and integrity-
He was back then in life a Freemason
And held it all so close and dear-
Regardless of what any lesser souls might think
He always kept his values near-
Millions I might not have in life
Not endless wealth to call my own-
But I retain my fathers values
They are deep within myself to the bone-
His honesty was ever solid within
He helped way more than will ever say-
And some still old but alive they'd know
What my father did for them upon the day-
He both lived and died an honest man
Though true love was not his to hold-
But he did so love my mother dear
till the moment that he died I'm told-
However perfect honesty within some souls
Does and still exists to date-
Over and above all else in life
Worth more than wealth and money by the crate-
There is an oldest line of integrity
A thread that has not been broken-
A being true to thine own self
Never dimmed at all by many lose words spoken-
Honesty and integrity to such an inbuilt degree
Is rare but it's still around today-
I filled a promise for and to my father recently
I went home,helped those he knew along the way-
Like him I never asked for reward at all
Worked my fingers to the bone-
For the same ones that ridiculed him in life
Then again made my way back my now home-
I experience the sense of giving as he knew
Though I'd known that feeling many times in life-
Laughed at after for doing a good turn for some
But I felt sorry for their ignorance and strife-
Always remember the greatest wealth in life to hold
Is to be within ever honest broke or poor-
To hold ones integrity closer than your skin
And it will stand by you for ever more-
