The Old Lighthouse
At the end of the street
where my grandparents live,
the old lighthouse stands there
happiness, it used to give.
It had an adjoining restaurant
lobster, sat on people's plates,
now, it sits empty and cold
surrounded by a rope and wood gate.
The old lighthouse still stands
I went down there, for a walk,
took a few pictures, to keep
stood quiet, didn't want to talk.
Ocean water splashes around it
gulls and piping plovers, fly overhead,
ducks float on the rippling waves
the old lighthouse sits, as if it were dead.
