all throughout the city
summer, fall or when the streets
are slick with ICE
stray dogs are instinctively equipped
with a simple surviving technique;
hide through the day,
search for food at NIGHT
and if they must,
a four legged canine
will bark and show it's teeth
toward anybody that MIGHT
threaten their way of LIFE
quite social with one another,
stray dogs are often seen
running in multicolored PACKS
every once in a while,
you might see a loner
he lives down by the railroad TRACKS
he usually comes around
when the factory closes down
and just like the homeless brother,
they eat, sleep and drink
without ever having to pay TAX
even the ones who never
lived with humans,
they're still attracted to people FOOD
and usually, as a RULE;
they knock over garbage cans
and open packages utilizing
sharp teeth as their TOOL
a tribute to stray dogs
teaches us what survival is all ABOUT
if your dog ran away,
maybe you should've hugged him
instead of hitting him with a stick,
just because he slept on the COUCH
stray dogs,
like their ancient ancestors,
are born to run free
cruel and unusual humans,
they can do WITHOUT
