I kiss goodbye to August Moon,
I kiss the summer gone,
And as the season changes,
I sing September song,
I sing of burning glory,
Of leaves departing trees,
A chorus in the morning,
Drifting on the autumn breeze,
I welcome early darkened nights,
A time of peace descending,
The eastern wind grows stronger,
Its howl seems never ending,
And cosy in my little room,
I’ll bide my time till morn,
And as the season changes,
I sing September song.
