Petals In The Grass

Black Veil

Kneeling down by my stone
I start to hear her wail
Who is this secret visitor
Under such a long black veil

Our paths must have crossed
Along my bumpy trail
Who is this secret visitor
Under such a long black veil

I could not take anymore
My demons did prevail
Who is this secret visitor
Under such a long black veil

Death by my own hand
It's a very dreary tale
Who is this secret visitor
Under such a long black veil

Most of lifes tests
I did manage to fail
Who is this secret visitor
Under such a long black veil

With prayers all said
She starts to set sail
Who is this secret visitor
Under such a long black veil

My question goes unanswered
Silence from under the veil
Her disappearance rather brisk
She gave not one detail
