Observing

(Prequel to the Faerie Land Saga)

He grasped in his hand
A thimble full of light
To be used only sparely
In the darkest of the night
Searching always searching
For any other of his kind
Sending gently probing tendrils
To find any receptive mind

Careful always careful
For any discovered mistake
In these troubled times
Could bring a Witches stake
A Guardian left to observe
As Mabs journeyed out to space
To keep a watching brief
On Faerie land's birth place

Dodging and evading
The pursuing race of Man
But discovery and burning
Had so endangered that plan
And so he wandered friendless
In the darkest dark of the night
Using so very sparingly
His thimble full of light
