I am the One

I beckon to you my accusers
stand tall and speak your dismay.
It is I the one you call guilty…
it is time to hear what you say.
Please speak of all that ails you
describe what I have done,
I am ready to be hung by your jury…
it is fitting that I am the one.
For it is I the one that led you
my name you cried in the night.
It was my blood that runs to the river…
my strength you used for your fight.
Now I am the one that is guilty,
though the colours I wore were your own.
I am the one you call "brother"…
so often to fight on my own.
