John 15:12-13
THIS IS MY COMMANDMENT,
That ye love one another,
as I have loved you.
GREATER LOVE
hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life
for his friends.
Big Man, Big Heart
I once knew a big man,
who's heart was as big as he,
Who kept inside a lifetime
Of love and generosity.
He valued every experience,
He learned his lessons well,
He strove to reach for Heaven,
Though he feared the 'Gates of Hell'.
His humor and his laughter,
His boundless energy,
His compassion, his forgiveness,
And his passion for poetry.
All these things were dwarfed
By his capacity to Love,
First his family, then his friends,
And His Lord God in Heaven above.
"Greater Love hath no man",
than to love"; as Jesus' phrase ends,
This Big man with a big heart
Would give it all up for a friend.
Too short the big man lingered
On this earth he loved so much,
There was much he could have done,
Grand kids he would love to clutch,
Daughters to hold and whisper words
Of love and pure emotion,
Hold his wife in his warm embrace,
Forty years of deep devotion.
Yes, I once knew a big man,
Who's heart was as big as he,
He walks beside his Savior now,
And he's waiting for you, and me.
He's singing with the Angels,
He's visiting 'Dear Old Friends'
His heart will LOVE on forever,
For eternity~~~never ends.
