Lord, I know he's messed up big
And Satan wants to take him out.
But I'll stand in the gap for him...
That's what motherhood is all about.
I plead the precious blood of Jesus.
Lord, I ask for an angel guard.
I pray protection all around him.
You know how much I love him, Lord.
He's so sick in mind and body
And he so needs a healing touch.
But, most of all, he needs salvation.
I want this for him, oh, so much!
Years I've called his name out to You...
I've never doubted he'd be saved.
I realize he's been a wild one
I'm sorry for how he's misbehaved.
Lord, I'm pleading for Your mercy.
I'd lay my life down if I could.
Oh, Father, he is still my baby...
I know You've always understood
When I worried more than I should have
And when I walked the floor at night.
When I couldn't sleep till morning...
Until I knew he was alright.
It's not because I didn't trust you.
It's not that I was lacking faith.
It's just that he was, oh, so precious
And my fear of losing him was great.
Well, Lord, it's back to this old picture...
My heart is hurting to the core.
You're the answer to his problem.
He needs to run to You once more.
Remember when he was a youngster?
Prayed for his mommy to get well?
Laid his little hands upon me?
His faith was great then, I could tell.
Like the prodigal, the world abused him...
Stripped him of his everything.
Show him the way back home, sweet Jesus
Let him reach for his Father's ring.
Draw him back by Your sweet Spirit.
Lord, speak into his heart and soul.
Just let him know You hold tomorrow.
Give him the hope to be made whole.
Lord, please don't let the devil kill him.
Don't let my boy believe his lies.
I speak the word of life into him.
I command Satan's dirge dries up and dies.
I pray this in the Name of Jesus.
May all who read this prayer agree.
Lord, I thank you for the gift of poetry,
For giving all these words to me.
