June's Rhymes

The Past

I can't allow myself to dwell on the past.
I must move ahead, and move very fast.
If I don't, I just know that I'll start to cry.
I'll leave it behind, and I'll say good-bye.
We had some things in common, I know.
But it was really time for one of us to go.
It was oh so good for a very short while.
We even had a wonderful, precious child.
I do wish that things had not gone wrong.
But they did, and so now I'm long, gone.
