border="0" /> Till Im Too Old To Die Young - Moe Bandy
I had the joy and honor of working with this man
so bright, sharp and noble, He had a cowboy tan
I married his only daughter and came to work by his side
I never saw one better when time to rope and ride
He always went to sleep at night knowing he changed the day
By work he did or friends he helped somewhere along the way
Everybody who knew him loved him, His word was always true
Whenever he had the chance he'd put his blessing on you
Tonight the teardrops fill my eyes as I look back on nine years
of working side by side with him through hot and cold and fears
On the first of June in 89 he had a three wheeler crash
We called St. Vincent Help Helicopter, hoped for a medivac dash
The pilot was brand new to the area and he smoked before he flew
even though the regulations said, that was the wrong thing to do
The pilot crashed on our ranch that night , all four aboard were killed
I found the wreck the next morning, the bodies were stiff and chilled
As I knelt by his battered body I knew he was no longer there
I knew he was ranching with Jesus beyond our sky and air
I look back on this tragedy and the sadness dims a bit
when I recall his laugh and smile and his warm and friendly wit
Tonight I share this memory with a picture of the man
I'm thankful to carry on, ranching on this lan |
