Tropical StormAs the new day began with air heavy and warm, A dawn chorus sings aloud, nature's choir of charm, No wind can be felt, lazy scents fill the morning , A quiet beginning, for a day of without warning, The heat builds, animals and birds take shade, For basking reptiles, this day seems made, Does God's creatures recognise nature's plan?, For something tells them of foreboding at hand Clouds on the horizon, large, billowy and grey, Like mountains afloat, as they drifted this way, No birds can be heard, the world quiet and still, Tiny ants are still busy, creating their own little hill, The sky gets darker, as the gathering storm nears, Their cloud base deepens, a tinge of green appears, The sun is now gone, it's still oppressive and hot, A distant rumble, a signal of the power its got, A wind comes up, from the clouds it did race , A dust storm precedes as it gathers its pace. Lightning now dances over the clouds lofty peaks, Trying to reach earth, a passage it seeks, A large wall of cloud, carries the storm's weight , Like a big rolling drum, in front of hell's gate, The rain starts to pour, with a thunderous din, As lightning draws near, as darkness closes in Almost horizontal, the rain beats a course, Cyclonic winds create an unstoppable force. And now for all, both beast and man, Secure some shelter, wherever they can, Many houses unroofed, large trees on the ground, Flooding now a danger to those lower down. Prepare as you may, and in awe we may be, For forces of nature, when its fury set free Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
