I sit here tonight, wading through memories
Which warm the soul as fractured sun light
Heats the sea, and
I am reminded of you. I smile at the echo of your laugh.
A seagull calls in the distance, and
The laugh changes to one I knew much later.
The years ebb and flow through my mind.
Darkness like a wave crashes over me, and
I am a drop of water -- suspended.
I realize it is my fate to crash;
This kind of high ends only one way, and
I breathe deeply, grieving in a sigh.
Because by Fate, even gods are cast down
Cycles begin anew. The Rush! And,
I weep. Anger gone, betrayal deep
The next crest as close as the next breath
I ride the wave, every second a silent prayer, and
Like a shell of spun glass,
I am broken.
