Montana Wheat Farmer
I sat there on my combine and watched the clouds roll by
They rolled up and looked to me like scrolls up in the sky
I watched in awe and wonder at the visions God creates
While we go on and live our lives and for our Jesus wait
I saw two small fawn antelope close behind their mom
As she headed fast across the slope leaving a trail of dusty bombs
Far above me in the sky a golden eagle soared
Lightning flashed in eastern skies and deep low thunder roared
I softly said a little prayer to Thank God for His mighty hand
For making me a farmer who works and loves the land
I planted wheat nine months ago in the dusty ground
It weathered wind and grasshoppers then turned from green to brown
Springtime brought new life as each tiny plant turned green
The spring rains fed new growth and soon the heads were seen
The wheat like fields of emeralds would glisten in the sun
And wave a giant greeting when the westward winds begun
This stand of green began to turn to amber waves of grain
I prayed daily to ask The Lord to send a just one good rain
On some we got a little rain on much the land stayed dry
I guess He had a plan in place by letting rains go by
The day I started harvesting and watched the clean grain flow
I thanked the Lord for helping me to make this wheat crop grow
Next year may be better or the crops may wither and die
I'll still serve Him as a farmer beneath this big Montana sky
