Bull Hauler

Photobucket

Long roads and heavy loads and family on my mind

I've been in this big old Peterbuilt too damn long this time

I'm jamming gears and dodging deer to get back home tonight

There's something about the open road and eighteen wheels that's right

I loaded green calves in Sheridan on a Friday afternoon

I hit the scales at Laurel just at the rising of the moon

I got twelve more hours, pushing hard, before I shut her down

When the calves are safe at Dry Creek, I'll head for home near town

I'm hauling fats tomorrow as soon as my Bull rack's clean

I hope to have some time tonight with my wife, my sweet trucker's Queen

I'll kiss her goodbye tomorrow and climb back in that truck

Pray for clear and dry roads and a whole lot of Bull hauler luck

The big Cat engine comes to life as the stacks billow clouds of gray

I kick the tires and look her over, ready to start my day

I back to the chute, load fat steers, pull out on the road again

Me and my bull hauling  Peterbuilt, my lifeline and my friends.

When you see me on the highway please give me lots of room

I'm hauling cattle and I don't want them rattled and I have to get there soon

Tomorrow I may pass your way I'll cover over seven hundred miles

It  makes my day to have a clear path way and see you wave and smile

Author's Comments: This Poem is dedicated to my friend Mark Pankonin, Owner of Dry Creek Feedlot and a Bull Hauler.
Mark buys and feeds my calves. This is not a picture of his truck but it is a Bull Rack.
Mark says there are two kinds of Truckers, Bull Haulers and those that want to be Bull Haulers
I know they are a special breed and they are important to Montana ranchers. God bless the Bull Haulers and all the other truckers too.
