Beautiful Disaster

Crash

She lunges forward
While the air bags
Push her back
Shattered glass
Sputtering engine
Oil dripping
Broken lights
Dented metal
Time seems to stop
But the accumulating smoke
Draws her back
Motionless
All she can do
Is sit
Motionless
She knows
She has to tell them
As her vision begins to blur
But their disappointment
Seems a burden
Too heavy
To bear
The shameful walk
Back to the house
To face them
Is long and dreary
Tears streaming
Mind consumed
Embraced by her brother
To soften the blow
He reassures
And reminds
Soothes
And relaxes
Just like she assumed
He becomes furious
He can't even look at her
She wishes
She was the one that
was in pieces.
