 Hatteras Light

On the Outer Banks of the North Carolina's Atlantic coastline,
In the town of Buxton off Hatteras Point stands a beacon into the night.
Flashing it's warning out to sea of the dangers of the Diamond Shoals,
Protecting the seafarer throughout the years has been the Hatteras Light.

Seen for miles coming down the coastline's road this impressive structure stands.
Still on the job as it has for a century and a half, shining its mighty light out to sea.
There is an awesome feeling within my heart when seeing this sweeping beam.
I think of the hundreds of ships that didn't heed the warning of the Hatteras Light.

Shipwrecks are numerous as these rocky shallow shoals wait for the unaware.
This light shouts out its warning into each and every night to every sailors delight.
This is a powerful image knowing the hundreds who lost their lives in these waters.
Standing firmly against nature's trap is the powerful sight of the Hatteras Light.

During the day, Sherrie and I climbed the spiraling staircase to the top of the lighthouse.
Awesome is the only word that describes the beauty from our perch above the shoreline.
The silent light just above us rests during the day before it's nightlong vigil.
The stillness of this place touches my soul standing atop of the Hatteras Light.

This is a power spot in my life,  a place that calls for my return again and again.
I will obey it's call as the message for my life is strong as it enlightens my soul.
The image burned into my retina of this tower of power makes my heart dance.
I always feel that I'm in the presence of God when I'm with the Hatteras Light.
