 Lay Down My Life
The Gospel plainly tells me of God's simple commands.
Do unto others, as I would have them do unto me;
Love my neighbor as myself; that is all the law that stands;
As Jesus plainly opened His plan for me to truly see.
Simple, but hard, if my heart is not born of God;
Even if I am born of Spirit, the task fills me with strife;
But Jesus touches my heart, and gives me a loving nod;
He asks me gently to enable success, to lay down my life.
Following these laws with a deeper explanation of true life;
Love my enemy; do not judge; forgive, and I will be forgiven;
Simple laws bring relationship to not only me, but also my wife;
Dying to myself, killing the ego, then my spirit will be driven.
