A poet writes what it is he feels
About so many things~
A poet writes down what he sees
Understanding is what he brings~
A poet writes landscapes with his words
Writes songs with what he has to say~
He finds the secrets of our souls
And sometimes lets them out to play~
He brings us a poets idea of how it is
And he brings love and joy in life~
In his way he tells of the happy times
As well as the hard times and the strife~
He words they sound like music
As they dance around and sway~
As his words do their very best
To tell what a poet sees within his day~
He courses people to look at the little things
Like all the flowers and the bees~
And if you come right down to it
He even helps the blind to see~
A poet does so many things
A poet feels that he has to try~
To leave as much of himself as he can
Before he fades away and dies~
A poet knows that a poets words
Is a greatest form of speech~
For without a poets magic words
So much beauty would be out of reach~
Words that sing without a tune
Words that have so many find their way~
Words that bring love and foresight
Words that are not forgotten for many a day~
The words of a poet . words of rhyme
As poets try their way it's true~
To bring you love and understanding
With poetry and a poets point of view~
