 The Truth

When we take the stand in court we are asked to tell the truth,
And nothing but the truth, but do we know really what it is.
Our society has portrayed truth as flexible to meet our needs,
As long as we don't lie, we believe that we tell the truth.

Truth seems to be fabricated around well placed words,
Not actually lying, but creating around you the reality we desire.
As modification of reality has become an art form in our world,
As long as we don't lie, we believe that we tell the truth.

The twisting of words meanings has become some folks only exercise.
The power of this creativity is honored and then rewarded with riches,
But these riches rot the soul, and rob the joy from your being;
As long as we don't lie, we believe that we tell the truth.

Truth is the reality of what is at this moment, when simply stated.
When we accept that precious moment that is now as our reality,
We can live fully in  the truth, completely free of our judgments.
Don't believe that as long as we don't lie, we tell the truth.
