 She Was
Chase the past as if we could
Return to it the time she stood
Before my eyes, embraced today
She was just then, just yesterday

I still feel her breath upon shoulder
My arms barren yet still we hold her
Her my heart will not let go
Where soul would tell it I told you so

Her lips soft as marshmallow
Would press and leave their last hello
That day, that time, that still stands still
Inside of us once so fulfilled

The trail gone cold today we walk
Of her we write where once we talked
Of love that seemed so never ending
Heartbreak with us now time is spending

She was and is the part missing
She was the lips we once were kissing
She was and is the final chapter
Of love once had, of happily after

Though she won't see or read this write
She is and was my last good night
Where lonliness has made a friend
While keeping watch, while our heart mends
