Gethsemane to Golgotha

From the garden to the grave,
His all He freely gave.
In the garden of Gethsemane,
He prayed, "Let this cup pass from me."

He sweat great drops of blood,
And His tears were like a flood.
Yet if He had paid no cost,
We would all still be lost.

Abandoned and betrayed by a friend,
It was the beginning of His end.
Accused of things He did not do,
He was punished just for you.

He was mocked and scorned by men,
Yet He would do it all again,
Just to show His father's love,
And take you to His home above.

Though He was guilty of no crime,
He bore the cruelest sentance of all time.
Scourged and beaten until almost dead,
And a crown of thorns placed on His head.

No one else could pay such a price;
His last friend denied him thrice.
Then He climbed Golgotha's hill,
So he could do His father's will.

Tortured by those He sought to save,
Yet He was faithful to the grave.
"Forgive them, they know not what they do",
Was His plea for me and you.

At last even God forsook His son,
When He saw what He had done.
Taking on the sins of all mankind,
Oh, how could we be so blind?

"It is finished", was His last breath,
As He surrendered at last to death.
Never have three words been so true,
Or meant so much to me and you.

The temple's veil was rent in twain,
Uniting God and man again.
Our redemption is now free,
Thanks to this man from Galilee.

Sins wages have been paid,
And preparations have been made
For those who only will
Accept the price of Golgotha's hill.
