 Don't Cry

When my time in this body is over and I've breathed my last breath;
The mortician has did his job and has laid me out in my Sunday's best.
It's your turn before my casket, as you look down at what used to be me,
Remember that I'm very much alive, so don't cry.

As you spend your moment before the casket remembering our relationship;
As you think of the way I treated you throughout these many years,
As you see the injuries and grievances I may have caused within this life.
I have not been without flaw, I know; I am so sorry, please forgive me.

But if you remember the kindnesses and tenderness that I have shown;
Smile, then hold fast to these good memories, as they are my epitaph.
It's time to move down the line to hug Sherrie's neck and say what's on your heart.
Wipe the tear from your cheek because I am now unbounded, so don't cry.

When it's time to release a loved one, we resist this natural process;
As it is an universal law that things are always changing from one form to the next.
Whether a solid, a liquid, or a gas; The only thing that is consistent is change.
Look into the depths of your soul and you will know this truth,  peace to your heart.

I am more alive in my death than I ever experienced in my life.
I will always remember the warmth of the touch of your hand,
As into the unknown adventure of this next life I now explore.
I'm on a quest from this world into the next, so don't cry.

I'll never be separate from the ones that I loved as I wander;
Of each of you, I carry a shard of your essence into this next realm.
We are now all sojourning together exploring this new wondrous existence.
Yes, you are all contained within my heart as I travel eternally, so don't cry.
