Monarch Moment
Today in the midst of my day at work,
Surrounded by acres of pipelines and pumps,
The industrial starkness of efficient buildings,
I work solving issues in the tank field today.
My focus on work is temporarily interrupted,
My spirit comes to life by a monarch moment.
Switching pipelines and turning valves,
Sweat pouring off my brow I look up.
Before me flits with wings of yellow and black,
Dancing in this place that grace abandoned,
The most beautiful butterfly searching for a mate.
My gaze is held by a monarch moment.
With the power of God's love, the drab tank farm
Becomes the most beautiful place on earth.
This delicate creature demands my attention.
I stand in awe of the ability of such a tiny insect
To transform an industrial wasteland into a wonderland.
My day is blessed by a monarch moment.
Returning to the turning of pipe valves afterward,
Has become something completely different than a moment ago.
My heart is now lighter and filled with God's peace,
From the midst of the work-a-day turmoil and chaos,
Now I return to work with my heart is filled with joy.
My life is touched by a monarch moment.
