And We Cry
The clouds came so fast
We had no time to prepare
With whispers on our breath
We tasted the darkness in the air
The lightning struck so hard
There was nowhere to run
And so we wait, together,
Praying for the sun
Despair tugs us deeper
Into this nightmarish reality
And I try to make you believe
That things will be fine while you're with me
But stuck in your past faults
You don't see what's here, in front of you
You walk backwards, closer to hurt
Compelling me to chase you
And so we play this game,
Our own versions of cat and mouse
And every time we fail,
We sit in poverty, wait for another round
And so we sulk in the shadow
Together, yet so alone
And so we cry in the quiet
In the pods of tears we've sown
