Scenes From My Past
Scenes pass before me
as memories unfold,
when I was a little girl
a barbie I would hold.
Her name was Darcy
and she was my fave,
with her in my hands
I tried to behave.
My head would shake
and I cried really bad,
I faced many tests
to find out what I had.
I saw many doctors
but they didn't know
why I had strange movements
that would often show.
My neck was sore
and relief was nil,
until I found a doctor
that gave me a pill.
Treatment went well
and I was able to cope,
after several years
of pain and hope.
I was a carefree child
and now I was glad,
there was a name
for the problem I had.
Tourette Syndrome
was in my past,
a neurological disorder
that wouldn't last.
In the present day
as a special adult,
there is more to face
as the end result.
Mental problems
from all the stress,
along with meds
a schizophrenic mess.
