From the Heart Through the Pen

yosph
December Rose

I ever tell you about the moment I was surprised
Every since I saw the spark
The twinkle, the glamour in her eyes
She captured my attention
Words were supposed to come out
But I didn't know what to mention
So I asked her to wait a minute

I ran for my pen and pad
Feeling something stir on my insides
And might I say it's been a while since
Someone brought to my face such a smile
Made it to where I couldn't form a sentence
Made me feel as if I were set free
After many years being imprisoned

I made my way back to her
Ready to write out my thoughts
When I swear I heard our hearts sing
A Prince and Rosie duet of Nothing Compares
I shrugged it off and began to write
Telling her about how she's got me in this love swing
If she could imagine how this I feared

She smiled and moved her hair behind her ear
She said it was almost time for her to go
Maybe I could give her a call tomorrow
You never know what it could bring
I took down her number
She caught my eyes once again
And I began to wonder

Does she even understand its 2 AM
And I'm stumbling drunk
Though I've had no alcohol
Her physique had me in disarray
Taking its toll; causing me to dance
And I swear I'll always remember
The rose in full bloom in December
