 Inside The Mirror

Flickering flames of passion reach ever higher
Writhing, twisting in phlogistine phosphorescent fire
I am surrounded by all the objects of my desire
         ...In dreams....

Gently over me pour rivers of ecstatic feeling
Cherub and cherubim of love dance on my ceiling
Off into multiple seraglios my thoughts go reeling
    ...In dreams....

Toward dawn my lover comes to me in splendor
I battle dragons and demons to defend her
Delicately and smoothly I carefully blend her
    ...Into my dreams....

I tempt her with aromatic emollient creams
As we bathe in warm exotic island streams
Upon our bodies play the tropical sunbeams
    ...Found in my dreams....

Slowly the dew drops of dawn come falling
Sounds of a newly born day are now calling
Incremental dark shadows begin crawling
    ...Away from my dreams....

But another night will come creeping into my room
Love's angels once again near my ceiling will loom
We will embrace tomorrow in my fantasy's womb
          ...Of dreams....

I watch her fade away, disappearing into the mist
My head is full of memories of the time we first kissed
I begin to fall inside myself toward sleep's deep abyss
          ...Of dreams....

Until dreams fall again, my one I adore
Until we meet once more, my paramour
Until we can open again the inner door
...We must live outside our dreams....
