Golden Days

I've been asked to write a poem for a competition about childhood games we used to play
on the playground. Here is my submission. Fingers crossed :D x

Golden Days

In my head past memories play,
On the playgroud in our childhood days,
Playing hopskotch, 'tig' or 'house,'
Running wild like cat and mouse.

'Snakes and ladders,' or 'Stuck In The Mud,'
Acting like zombies playtime was always good,
Time flew by as we played,
When the bell rang we were dismayed.

Playing 'Hide and Seek' was so swell,
Grazed up or knees from when we fell,
Holding someones hips and playing trains,
Sometimes I wish we were there again.

Times have moved on, and now it's our childrens turn,
To laugh and play and skip and learn,
Though we are adults we can still see,
Our Golden Days will always be.

Though we grow and we mature,
Memories stay memories forever more,
In the past and future days,
Laughter still rises and children still play.
