 Get the Hell Out of My Head

The flying monkeys hover over me taunting my illusion of strength;
They mock my bold steps with their chatter and squeals.
I choose to press on trying to ignore these evil apparitions,
Get the hell out of my head.

I hear the laughter of my schoolmates ringing in my ears,
This echo from the past is as loud and painful now as it ever was.
The power of their words and their laughs cripple me again,
Get the hell out of my head.

I feel the presence of the sailors that cursed me on Treasure Island,
There words of digression stung as if large stones had been cast my way.
I hear the epitaphs slung my way and I once again cower in the darkness,
Get the hell out of my head.

Years of memories come tumbling back that I thought had been forgotten;
The walls within my skull that I build to lock this demon up never to be seen again.
He has been pumping iron all those years and is now even stronger than before,
Get the hell out of my head.

In a world of my constructions, my life has been built to compensate;
I deny the reality with an elaborate building as beautiful as the Taj Mahal.
But I know the truth, I still hear the bullies taunts, I know what is real;
Get the hell out of my head.
