June's Rhymes

January, A New Beginning

Today is a special day filled with butterflies.
Not everything goes right, though everyone tries.
It's a new beginning and a new way of life.
I'll stop being single, I'll become a wife.
My mother is smiling and my dad is proud.
There are so many people, what a crowd.
You're just so handsome, I can hardly wait.
I'm more excited than I was on our first date.
It's the beginning of a new way of living.
Sharing a life together, receiving and giving.
I feel warm, I'm blushing? Are my cheeks red?
I was remembering last night, what you said.
You took my hand, and looked into my eyes.
Then you said, "Tomorrow you will be my bride."
A young woman happy, dressed up in white.
Everything will be different after tonight.
It's January, the beginning of a new year.
I'm excited with joy and just a little fear.
Today I will begin a whole new way of life.
Today I will become your loving, loyal wife.
It's a new year and it's also a new start.
Today, I will formally give away my heart.
