 When Larry Leaves

My life will change when Larry leaves the mill,
No longer will I be forced to the shift leader job.
I will have mixed feelings of ecstasy and sadness,
As his friendship will be missed by all of us out here.
When Larry leaves.

Joy of work will be more subdued when Larry leaves,
As he brings his gentle nature to the operators chair.
No longer will he be sharing jokes or popcorn with Scott,
No longer seeing him jump, then blurt out his thoughts.
When Larry leaves.

Larry will always be remembered as an honored Vietnam vet,
A man of integrity, with an easy smile coming to his mouth.
Larry's wife will get to enjoy him more often as we will miss him;
In retirement he can make up for all that lost time with family.
When Larry leaves

I say to him in this poem, enjoy your remainder of your life,
Enjoy the grand kids, your daughter, son, and your wife.
Cherish the gift of life that God has given you to enjoy;
Someone else will step into his seat, but it won't be the same.
When Larry leaves.
