 Dark of Night

I awaken in the dark of the night,
All of light hides from my sight.
Absolutely nothing is now white,
Nor is it red, or green, or blue.

My eyes are wide open to see;
Drinking in any shard is the key,
Before I get out of bed to go pee.
Without disturbing my you know who.

Moving quietly, patiently in the dark;
On this exploration, I do embark.
I am distracted by a dog's bark.
My toes seek out the slightest view.

I find the bathroom without any pain;
Ahhh… I feel much better after a drain.
My return journey I travel safely again;
I crawl back into bed feeling brand new.

This trip has now become a part of my life,
As I get older no longer does it bring strife.
The challenge is not awakening my sleeping wife,
My desire is my nightly trips be only a few.
