 Through Patrick Gilmores eyes
No real reasons why or given
Sometimes we're just not that driven
Each knock, each set back builds
Leaving dents in our human shields
Dents that that leave a devastating amount
Like a sinking bank account
So, no. I don't know why
Another young soul has to die
But die you did, and now you're gone
But in this life you done nothing wrong

I remember you at school
And playing 5-a-side football
Coming round my house with the guys
And getting drunk, which is no surprise
I remember us meeting in Hungary
Me, you and Johnny P
Running away from the cops in Budapest
Hiding in a club to escape arrest
And then you went to Vietnam
And dazzled the ladies with your charm

But I guess the drink and alcohol
In the end took it's toll
Escaping what? We'll never know
But now my friend you've left the show
Curtains drawn, applause is heard
“come back!” we cry, but that's absurd
Because you're not coming back
You've slipped through the crack
Onto another adventure, another tale
So goodbye friend, and farewell.

~For my friend, Patrick Gilmore who sadly passed away on the 23rd January 2009, aged 32 ~~
