 Moontan

by Fred Pifer

I am looking up into the cloudless night sky;
Crisp is the temperature tonight, breeze gently blowing.
The shadows are cast long on this full moon night.
There is a howling in the distance, my imagination is ignited.
Baying at this fullness are the dogs, wolves, and other creatures of the darkness,
As I lay out in the direct moons light,
 Getting myself that glowing moontan.

Not necessary is the sun screen used by the creatures who crave the light.
The dangerous rays have been absorbed by the moon
And reflecting back to me a soft hue of gold,
As the glitter of dew sparkles in the grass.
Tonight, I seek out the glory of the moon goddess to drink in her power;
I stand bathing in the glow of the moonlight,
 Giving my body a rich moontan.

The gods have touched mankind with a sense of silence when the moon is bright;
As the shadows scamper across the hills of those lusting after this magic.
A special power to those enlightened by the moons reflection;
Energy of all matter is balanced in this ying of the suns yang.
I lay on my beach towel looking up into the nights sky,
A chill travels down my spine as the breeze softly caresses my soul.
I am touched by a moontan.

The sun worshipers are shriveled as natural moisture is sucked from their flesh;
Laying in the bright cancer causing sun to achieve that golden hue that the moon  can also give.
Without the dangers, the burns, or the aging; the moon creates a freshness in all it touches.
This monthly moment of its complete fullness signals another cycle;  the rhythm of the universe.
The moon brightens up the night sky with its gentle pale light giving an eerie peace to my heart.
Creating beauty in it softness as I bathe in the golden hues;
 Enhanced tonight by a moontan.
