 Nev's cultural events
So ya been to The Royal Albert?
Climbed to Carnegie's gallery?
Sung carols in the Myer Bowl?
Or Sydney's Opera House by the sea?

Well, I put tagetha a new calenda,
Of incredible cultural stuff,
Music and dance that'll enthral ya,
Even the most discerning buff.

The year starts off with a cracka,
The Perling Brook Pobble Bonks,
Featurin that popula numba,
Summer's Thunda and lightnin waltz.
The time of this concert varies,
This amazing song and dance troop,
Only performs in monsoonal rain,
When lightnin silhouettes the group.

Just ave a look through me broucha,
There's something new every month,
But I want ta tell ya of me special,
The world premiere of Music of love.

We'll head north from Brissie,
402 clicks up the Pacific Highway,
Then we'll head out to the east coast,
For the concert at Wantadolla Bay.
We've booked the natural theatre,
It's wide and tall you'll see,
It's famous rocky walls resemble,
The ancient castle of Beaucairee.

The forecourt of the theatre
Has several salt water rock pools
Rimmed in colourful marine life,
The coral alone ‘ll make ya drool.
Watch for the Wantadolla sea squirts
And their amazing visual waltz,
Sending plumes of rhythmic water
In concert with the music's pulse.
This year features Andre Ratu
And the Johann Mouse orchestra,
The meece all frocked up pretty,
And Ratu –he's the hansom star.

I don't want ta tell ya too much
For the concert is pure musical spice,
But ya gotta love the entry parade,
Awesome carriages from The Alice.
Each carriage sure is magical,
Built from giant abalone shells,
Polished brighta than a peacock's tail,
Or sky's reflection in outback wells.

Three pairs of giant Rhino Beetles,
Draw each fabulous carriage in,
The rhino's polished shells glisten,
White plumes flutter from their ‘orns.
Ratu always walks in front,
Yep, he leads the ‘ole parade,
Those beetles ‘ave a fearsome look,
But Andre is not afraid.
Each carriage has plush seats for four,
Delivering the musical meece,
And for their personal safety,
They're protected by security geese.

Now for your viewin' pleasu'
Ratu has brought from outback west,
The Imjumpup Waltzing ‘Roos,
Dressed up in their Sundee bests.
Recently in Vienna they competed
For the coveted World Waltzing Cup,
And in the grand final waltz off,
Outscored Vienna's Count Von Zupp.
Now durin' the Blue Danube,
Those in the dearest of seats,
Get to waltz with those ‘Roos,
Don't let their tails trip up ya feet.

Now there is another Aussie star
Performing this year with Ratu,
The talented Mirusia Angel Fish,
Recent graduate of Australia Zoo.
Just watch her as she flies,
From pool ta pool she glides,
Singing La Te Oh La Me Wheeeee,
And other meaningless stuff besides.

The concert will rise to a crescendo,
At last Ratu has Un-Ravel'd the score,
The hypnotic rhythm of Bolero
Performed by The Bilby Four.
Just watch their magical footwork,
As they rat a tat tat a tat the primay beat,
Then providin' the counter rhythm,
The Rhino's stomp their six black feet.
From the simple tones of the flute,
Caressed tones of love fly wide,
Torn Hamstring passionately plays,
While Ratu stands on his left side.
The crescendo builds to full powa,
As the trumpet fish raise their ‘eads,
You'll wish that they never would stop,
But alas, Ratu is heading off ta bed.

Just to help, a pobblebonk is a native frog
found in Queensland coastal hinterland with
a very distinctive call.  The more it rains
the louder they become. I have them in this
poem at Perlingbrook, which is a little south
of their natural habitat.

To understand the rest, watch Andre Rieu's
DVD Andre Rieu live in Australia.
