 Wintry Mix

by Fred Pifer.

On the Princess site, planning our upcoming cruise,
Attempting to chase away Old Man Winter's blues.
Needing to look into the future a bit, needing a warm fix;
Outside  now there is snow, sleet, freezing rain, a wintry mix.

I'm going to have to go to work in a bit on the shift leader job;
Yesterday, it was so cold outside that my fingers began to throb.
Colder still today, the wind is howling blowing around the snow;
Needing come inside by the boiler, warm up and drink a cup of Joe.

Colder natured as I age, my desire for warmer weather is quite clear;
My fantasy is to be sitting on a tropical beach, drinking a cold beer.
You in your bikini, we frolic in the hot sun, learning a few new tricks;
In reality I must go out facing the blustering wind and a wintry mix.
