The spot where it happened holds all its sad memory
Loud screams can't be replaced with laughter's glee
For many folks who remember it was not a pretty scene
A plane crashed on a trip which was considered routine
The cause of the freak accident was not made clear
The crew and passengers did not get a warning in advance
At first they thought it was a terrible terrorist attack
The plane shuddered as it hit something in the back
The reliable pilot was forced to crash land in the Hudson River
Winter's freezing weather caused everyone on board to shiver
Through the emergency door they scrambled into the cold night
Spectators on land were extremely shocked to see the sight
The reason for the plane's crash touched my tender heart to the core
The plane flew into a flock of geese flying very close to the shore
As it is their habit the wild birds were flying South to avoid the cold
It was a massacre in the sky killing most of the flying warriors old
I wept bitterly for the birds who followed Nature's command
They were slaughtered by the courageous pilot's hand
Was it a demon's joke that the Lord's creatures were killed
Or did the Devine ordained it as a lesson for our faith to build

What a save!
An ace US Airways pilot made an astonishing controlled crash landing into the frigid Hudson River after his jet hit geese and lost power minutes after takeoff from La Guardia - and all 155 people aboard were rescued.
This is the image of fear.
Just hundreds of feet above the frigid water off West 69th Street - a mile from the site of the crash - hero pilot Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger III told all 154 souls aboard to "brace for impact."
