Fermenting at the back of a cupboard
Bubbling to a tune of its own
A mixture of scintillating items
And some of them were home-grown

It sits there in total darkness
Shyness to the world outside
No-one is allowed to even take a peak
Not even if they offered a bribe

Five whole gallons to get the water started
Black malt and some crystal malt
A liberal quantity of special hops
Added yeast is what it is all about

Each day brings it a day nearer to prime
Pint bottles glisten awaiting their fate
Sharing with friends who call round to see
Then admiring their wobbly state

For this stuff is really potent
And not for the faint of heart
It shows what the guys are made of
Keeping the men and the boys apart
