An ancient Chinese tale

Once upon a time in the land of China, far away, a baby boy was born
His happy parents could not decide on a noble name to bless his birth
He had five brothers and his father completely ran out of boy names
Hours of thinking were spent in deciding what the proper name would be
In the olden days in China there existed a very strange custom
Children were given long names as a blessings from their parents
So it came to pass with the boy who's father thought he was special
After four months of thinking his father said......
"I have found the perfect name for my number sixth son"
His name shall be............

Everyone celebrated with joy because the name was definately the right one
But one day the little boy's fifth brother came running to his father
He was screaming at the top of his lungs and could hardly speak
He cried..........
"Father! Father! My number sixth brother....

Has fallen into the well"............
Well, the father became excited and ran yelling towards the deep well
He wanted to see for himself what had happened to his precious lttle boy
He shouted.........
"Niki Niki Nimbo Nosey Nimbo Poy Poy Muski Poy Undo Hicky Pon Pon Niki Nomi Adam Poy
Where are you my number sixth son?"..........
All the neighbours came running to offer their help to get the boy out of the well
A large crowed gathered around the well and everyone began speaking at the same time
They shouted.......
"Number sixth son of Kuan-Yin....
"Niki Niki Nimbo Nosey Nimbo Poy Poy Muski Poy Undo Hicky Pon Pon Niki Nomi Adam Poy
Do not be afraid! We will get you out of the well".........
But the little boy's name was much too long and it took a very long time to say it
Meanwhile the scared little boy began to drown in the cold water of the well
His terrified mother cried out to her son who was silent down inside the well
She scream.... "Can you hear me? Oh! My poor number sixth son!.........

Help!....Somebody help!"..............
During the time they were calling his name the boy sank under the water three times
His father got very scared and he said suddenly..........
"I will change my son's name, it brings bad luck, no longer will he be called.........

The little boy's name was changed by his father at that very instant to Fu Yong
The trembling little boy was finally lifted out of the well crying but alive
And so from that day in China all the children are given short names
Like........ Yin, Chin, Lee, Mei, Yan, Fai, Zhen, Chang
Never again are the children given very long names like........
