Respect of Life

This concept calls for a new way of looking at the world;
My priorities are instantly changed into some other agenda.
Where my desires take a back seat to that which is best,
As a respect of life reaches all the corners of my being.
Rippling outwards in concentric circles the definition enlarges,
Once only having the meaning to me of human beings.
Now the animal kingdom is included within these rings as well,
As the respect of life gains a deeper meaning.
Next the world of bugs and crawly things draw my attention,
Then the plants that fill our world with color and beauty.
Continuing on to redefine the word life to the inanimate,
As respect of life opens to all of creation.
For if God took care to create and give permission for existence,
I realize then I must respect this universe of awesome variety.
All that is, and all that was, and all that ever will be is to be honored;
As respect of life allows us to revere our God's creation.
