 Good Luck Lyle Gordon
I'm heading off to boot camp on the 9th day of July,
going to support freedom where ever our flag does fly.
I'm kinda anxious and yet have some concern,
I'll be leaving Newman and I know some hearts will burn.
My mother has done the best she can with me,
now I've turned my life over to the US Army.
Many a young man has walked the path I'll take,
and I know in my heart to serve isn't a mistake.
I will do my duty the best way that I can,
whether in this country or in the desert sand.
When my tour is over, I'll be coming home,
and I'll tell my friends about everywhere I've roamed.
Some live and die in Newman without going anywhere
But, I chose to serve my country with the oath they have you swear.
I know that there are things that could happen to me in war,
some can take your life and others leave you in horror.
Yet, that is an option that could happen to anyone,
but, I'll face those things with honor until my job is done.
