 Resentment
Meet the monkey
The invisible one
Wrapper round
Each wrung neck
Hear the agitation
With high strung
Voices
A key
The monkey
Is speaking...
The more he controls
Us the louder
He can get
Until we are exploding
At people
Who don't deserve
The volume
Of the wrath
Visited upon them.

Pleasantly it pulls
Our strings
Falsely lulling us
Into righteous hatred
A sweet lie
Venomous poison
We willingly
Swallow
Day after day
And for some
Year after year
And we wonder
Why there are
Such things
As heart attacks
And cancer.

You left me
You died on me
You beat me
You stole my dreams
You gave me STDs
You killed my son
You got my job
You sabotaged my project
You cheated on me
You stole my money
You talked smack
You told lies
You fired me
You misdiagnosed me

Yes it's so easy
Isn't it?
But that poison,
That monkey's tale
Is killing you
Not the one you blame.
