MY DIAMONDS WEREN`T FOREVER

***MY DIAMONDS WEREN`T FOREVER***

I could be forgiven
For thinking it was night
As I drove to work today
As the moon was big and bright.

Darkness surrounded me
As I went on my way,
The sun was not up yet
As in its bed it lay.

But I was rich this morning
As there before my eyes
Lay a carpet of diamonds
What a beautiful surprise.

They covered the whole road
Not a space was left bare,
The moonbeams set them alight
The headlights made them glare.

My new found wealth didn`t last
The sun melted them for sure
As it rose high in the sky,
And my diamonds were no more.
